South Africa’s Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform, and Rural Development Didiza hailed 2021 as a year in which the country’s agricultural sector will finish on a “positive note,” according to a Dec. 22 report on South Africa’s News24 website. According to the report, South Africa’s agricultural sector exports are expected to reach a record level of about R173 billion in 2021, surpassing the second-highest level in history in 2020 (about R160 billion) and even the highest level in history in 2018 (R167 billion). Didiza’s success in promoting agricultural exports is important for the South African agricultural sector, such as the agreement with the Philippines on citrus exports and improved market access for lemon exports to China.
